Following is the Executive Summary for the Assessment of NJ Resident Bow Hunter Participation survey conducted in 2010.

New Jersey Releases 2010 Black Bear Results

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection's Division of Fish and Wildlife has released the final results of the 2010 Black Bear Hunting Season, held December 6-11, 2010. The season was held concurrently with the 6-Day Firearm Deer Season and was open in the area north of Rt. I-78 and west of Rt. I-287. The hunting season resulted in a total legal harvest of 592 black bears.

New Jersey Opens Spring Turkey Application Period Jan. 25th

The NJ DEP Division of Fish and Wildlife will open the Spring Turkey Permit Application Period on Tuesday, January 25, 2011.

New Jersey Black Bear Hunting Opens Dec. 6th

The opening day of New Jersey's Black Bear Hunting Season is fast approaching and hunters are preparing for what should be an excellent season. This year the season will run from December 6 through December 11, concurrent with the Six-Day Firearm Deer Season. Anyone wishing to participate in the black bear hunting season MUST have completed a bear hunting training seminar and possess a Black Bear Hunting Area Permit.

New Jersey Leftover Turkey and Deer Permits are Now on Sale

The NJ DEP Division of Fish and Wildlife reminds hunters that all leftover and unclaimed Fall Turkey Permits and all Deer Permits are now available for sale. Permits will be available until the permit quota is reached or the season ends, whichever comes first.

Permits can be purchased at all license agents or online. Hunters are reminded that permits purchased online will take 7 - 10 business days for delivery. Hunters do have the option of paying for express delivery. Permits are $28.00 for adults and $12.00 for youths.

New Jersey Black Bear Permit Apps Available October 1
The 2010 black bear hunting season is December 6-11. Anyone wishing to participate in the season must have completed a bear training seminar and possess a Black Bear Hunting Area Permit. The black bear permit application period will be October 1 - 30, 2010.
New Jersey Fall Turkey Permit Applications Now Available

The NJDEP Division of Fish and Wildlife reminds hunters that the Fall Turkey Season Permit Application period opened on August 1 and will close at 11:59 pm on August 31, 2010.

New Jersey Black Bear Hunting Returns

Department of Environmental Protection Commissioner Bob Martin approved a Comprehensive Black Bear Management Policy, a common sense mix of bear management tools that would include the state's first black bear hunt since 2005 to deal with an overpopulation of bears and problems they are causing, especially in northern parts of the State.
