Nevada Hunters Big Game Draw Closes April 19th
Time is growing short for hunters to submit their applications for Nevada's 2010 big game tag draw. The application deadline is 5 p.m. April 19. Applications can be submitted online at www.huntnevada.com or through a postal service if using an official paper application form.
Paper applications are available at Nevada Department of Wildlife offices or online at www.ndow.org. If using a postal service keep in mind that postmarks don't count. Applications must arrive no later than 5 p.m. on the deadline day, reminds Martin Olson, hunter education coordinator for NDOW.
Nevada offers outdoor enthusiasts the opportunity to hunt several big game species including mule deer, three species of bighorn sheep, elk, pronghorn antelope and mountain goats. Those with a desire can hunt mountain lions, and the tag application process offers hunters the chance to purchase one of the two mountain lion tags they are allowed each year. Mountain lion tags also can be purchased over the counter at license agents statewide.
The Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) protects, restores and manages fish and wildlife, and promotes fishing, hunting, and boating safety. NDOW's wildlife and habitat conservation efforts are primarily funded by sportsmen's license and conservation fees and a federal surcharge on hunting and fishing gear. Support wildlife and habitat conservation in Nevada by purchasing a hunting, fishing, or combination license. For more information, visit www.ndow.org.
