Nevada Big Game Quota Recommendations
The following are the Big Game Quota Recommendations for 2007. These preliminary recommendations are generated by Nevada Department of Wildlife big game biologists. The recommendations are based on a large volume of data collected last year through this spring on young production and recruitment, harvest results, habitat and animal condition, estimated population size of each herd, and harvest and population objectives within statewide and local area plans. The allocation of a unit group's tag quota by weapon class or hunter group is based on guidelines and a process that takes into account previous year’s tag applicant demand for each weapon class and the hunter success rate that each weapon class has for a particular season and unit group.
Individual county wildlife advisory boards in each county will hold public meetings to discuss and take input from the public before forwarding any alternate recommendations to the Nevada Board of Wildlife Commissioners who will approve a final set of Big Game Quotas at its meeting on May 12 in Reno. We encourage sportsmen to review the recommendations and attend your local county wildlife advisory board meeting.
