Hunter Education Classes Planned in Lincoln
The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission has scheduled three hunter education classes in the Lincoln area during February. Nebraska state law requires anyone 12 years of age or older, born on or after Jan. 1, 1977, to have successfully completed a state-certified hunter education course prior to hunting with a firearm.
Mountain Lion Confirmed Near Valentine
The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission confirmed late Jan. 7 afternoon that tracks found approximately one mile east of Valentine in north-central Nebraska were made by a mountain lion.
Firearms Deer Season Starts Saturday, Permits Still Available
Nebraskas 2003 regular firearm deer hunting season opens Saturday morning, Nov. 15; archery deer hunting season will reopen Nov. 24, the day following the close of the rifle season; the muzzleloading deer season will open Dec. 1, and there are still plenty of permits available for all three seasons.

Free Deer Hunting Workshop Offered at Ak-Sar-Ben Aquarium
The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is offering a free deer hunting workshop at Ak- Sar-Ben Aquarium on Oct. 8, according to Jeff Rawlinson, an outdoor education specialist.

Nebraskas 2003 archery deer season is already underway, the muzzleloading season opens Dec. 1, and there are an unlimited number of permits for both seasons so anyone who wants to participate in either season may do so.
Archery Deer Hunting Opens Sept 15th
This years archery deer hunting season opens Sept. 15 throughout the state and archers anxious to get back into the field are ready to go. Last year 28 percent of the 13,951 archery permit holders took a deer.
2003 Bighorn Permit Winner Selected
Steve Furley of Norfolk became the lucky winner of the 2003 Nebraska bighorn sheep lottery hunting permit when his entry was pulled from a metal barrel containing 1,595 applications during the Game and Parks Commission meeting in Lincoln Aug. 29.

Fall big game hunting seasons are fast approaching and there are still elk and deer permits available for hunters who want to participate.
Youth Waterfowl Hunting Season Set
The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission recently set the 2003 Youth Waterfowl Hunting Season for September 27-28.
