SCI Pledges $50,000 to Nebraska's Bighorn Sheep Program
The Nebraska Chapter of Safari Club International (SCI) pledged a donation of $10,000 per year for five years to the Nebraska Game and Parks Commissions bighorn sheep program at a Commission meeting in Lincoln Aug. 30.

Nebraska Sets Fall Turkey Hunting Seasons

Nebraska Bowhunter Education Class
Nebraska law states that all persons 12 years of age or older, born on or after Jan. 1, 1977, must have successfully completed a state-certified bowhunter education course before hunting deer, pronghorn, elk, bighorn sheep or wild turkey in Nebraska with archery equipment.
Gifford Point Access Permits
Deer hunters interested in hunting at Gifford Point Wildlife Management Area this year may apply for access permits from July 15 through August 15, according to Pat Molini, district manager of the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission’s Wildlife Division.
Hunters May Purchase Remaining Deer Permits Beginning June 26
Beginning at 1 p.m. June 26, resident and nonresident deer hunters may purchase remaining permits for the 2006 deer hunting seasons, within permits limits, in units where permits remain.
Spring Turkey Season Is Open Through May 21
Nebraska's 2006 spring turkey hunting season is underway and despite nasty weather conditions in some areas during the first couple of weeks of the season, those who went hunting had some success, there are still large numbers of birds in most areas and there is still time for archers and shotgunners to collect a gobbler.
NASP Archery Tournament Attracts 165 Young Archers
The first annual Nebraska - National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) State Tournament drew 165 elementary through high school student archers to the Nebraska State Fair Grounds in Lincoln on April 8.
2006 Antelope Hunting Season Dates Set
The Nebraska Game and Parks Commissioners set the dates for the 2006 antelope hunting seasons, and set buck only seasons in all units except the archery season again this year.
