Hunters may apply through Oct. 1 for free access permits for the 2007 antlerless muzzleloader deer hunting season at Boyer Chute National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) Dec. 15-16.

There are 60 access permits available. If more than 60 hunters apply, the refuge will draw from the applicants on Oct. 1. Permits will be sent out after that date.

Applicants must send a self-addressed, stamped, business-sized envelope to Boyer Chute National Wildlife Refuge, 3720 Rivers Way, Fort Calhoun, NE 68023. Identify the Dec. 15-16 deer hunt on the envelope.

Hunters will be allowed to use their Nebraska Season Choice Area 21 deer permit or Nebraska statewide muzzleloader deer permit. Hunting will be allowed in designated areas following refuge-specific regulations and Nebraska Game and Parks Commission regulations and licensing.

Information about hunting and other public use opportunities at the refuge are available by contacting Boyer Chute NWR at (402) 468-4313.
