Conservation Department Shooting Ranges Available
Wintertime, and the living is . . . boring! No matter how much we love to curl up with a good book or surf the Internet, at times between New Year's Day and April Fool's Day most of us feel the need to get outdoors. When cabin fever strikes, some of the closest opportunities are found at shooting ranges operated by the Missouri Department of Conservation.
Record Muzzleloader Deer Harvest Set
Hunters bagged a record 24,981 deer during the four-day muzzleloader season, which ran December 27-30, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife. The total represents a 13 percent increase over last year’s then record harvest of 22,088 deer during the same period.
Muzzleloader-Only Deer Season Opens
South Dakota deer hunters are reminded that the state’s muzzleloader deer season opened Saturday, Dec. 13 and continues through Saturday, Jan. 31.
New Sighting-In Range For Hunters
The Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (VDGIF) opened its new sighting-in range at the C.F. Phelps Wildlife Management Area (WMA) in Fauquier County this week. The facility, located off Rogers Ford Road, offers hunters a safe place to become more proficient with their firearms. Unlike shooting ranges, the sighting-in range will not be available for organized competitive shooting.
First Segment of Muzzleloader Season Opens November 3rd
The first segment of Tennessee's Muzzleloader/Archery Deer Season opens on Monday, November 3 and goes through November 9 in both of Tennessee's deer hunting units, according to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA).

Hunter Education Fun Shoot October 12th
On Oct. 12 at 4 p.m., Marquette area hunter education instructors, sportsmen groups, and the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks are sponsoring a "fun shoot" at the Army National Guard Weapons Range. This event is open to all hunter education graduates. The purpose of this event is to have an entertaining day on the range in preparation for the upcoming fall hunting seasons.
Early Muzzleloader Deer Season Opens In October
The Maryland Department of Natural Resources Wildlife & Heritage Service today reminded hunters of the early three-day segments of Maryland’s muzzleloader deer season to open in upcoming weeks. The first segment occurs Oct. 16-18. The second, the white-tailed deer antlerless-only segment, occurs the following week, Oct. 23-25, in Deer Management Regions B, C, and D.
