Hunters Prepare for Muzzleloader Season
Ohio’s popular muzzleloader deer season is set to open statewide December 27-30, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife.
New Muzzleloader Deer Harvest Record
Missouri's muzzleloader deer hunters kept up the pace set by those carrying modern firearms, shooting a record 11,938 deer during the muzzleloader deer season Nov. 26 through Dec. 5.
Late Muzzleloader Deer Season Opens December 18
Maryland’s estimated 60,000 muzzleloader deer hunters will return to Maryland’s winter woods and fields on December 18. This two-week segment of the muzzleloader deer season runs through Jan. 1.
Muzzleloader-Only Deer Season Opens December 11
As most of South Dakota’s rifle deer seasons are ending, the state’smuzzleloader-only deer season will be beginning. Muzzleloader hunters can begin Saturday, Dec. 11 and continue through Monday, Jan. 31.
Special Area Muzzleloader Season Results
Muzzleloader hunters harvested 201 deer during a special area muzzleloader deer season held on the Salt Fork and Wildcat Hollow wildlife areas and Shawnee State Forest last week. According to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife, the six-day deer harvest was up by 16 from the 2003 harvest of 185.
Muzzleloader Deer Season Opens December 13
West Virginia's six-day muzzleloader deer season opens December 13 and continues through December 18, 2004 in all counties open to firearm hunting for deer, according to Paul Johansen, Assistant Chief of Game Management of the Division of Natural Resources, Wildlife Resources Section.
Muzzleloader Season Opens November 6
The first segment of Tennessee's Muzzleloader/Archery Deer Season opens on Saturday, November 6 and goes through Friday, November 12 in all three of Tennessee's deer hunting units, according to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA).
Hunters Prepare for Primitive Weapons Deer Season
Primitive weapons deer season, during which hunters may use either archery equipment or muzzleloading firearms, begins Saturday, Oct. 9. Last year more than 69,000 muzzleloader hunters harvested approximately 22,300 deer, according to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife Resources Division (WRD). The statewide 2004 primitive weapons deer season is Oct. 9-15.
Muzzleloader Season Deer Permit Applications Available
Antlerless deer permit applications for Vermont's December 4-12 muzzleloader season are now available on the Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department's website and at license agents. The 4,814 muzzleloader antlerless permits being issued are expected to net a harvest of 825 deer.
Archery, Muzzleloader Records Push Deer Harvest Above 300,000
Record harvests by archery and muzzleloader hunters pushed the total number of deer harvested during 2003 hunting seasons above 300,000 for the first time in history, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources announced today.
