Elk, Deer Hunting Permits Still Available
Fall big game hunting seasons are fast approaching and there are still elk and deer permits available for hunters who want to participate.
Three Men Convicted in Deer Poaching
On June 24, the 7th District Court in Moab accepted guilty pleas by two Moab men, Harley Lammert and Codi Kerby, for the wanton destruction of three mule deer. On July 23, the Grand County Justice Court accepted a plea by another man, Derrick Kerby, for the unlawful taking of a deer. All of the charges stem from a shooting spree that occurred last winter in Castle Valley near Moab.
Leftover Deer License Applications Available
More than 45,000 North Dakota antlerless deer gun licenses are still available after the State Game and Fish Department recently completed its lottery drawing. These licenses are available to hunters who do not already have a license, or as second, third and fourth licenses.
Free Deer Hunting Seminar Offered July 23rd
The Hunter Outreach Program begins the 2004 Seminar series on July 23rd with a three hour seminar on deer hunting in Colorado. The guest speakers include Division biologists and Chris Roe of Green Mountain Falls, Colorado. The seminar will cover changes in laws and regulations, hunting techniques and alot more.
Leftover Controlled Hunt Permits On Sale July 15
Leftover controlled hunt permits for deer and elk go on sale Tuesday, July 15, 2003 at all Fish and Game offices and license vendors statewide on a first-come, first served basis. The sale starts at 9:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time.
Buck Permits Available from Hunting License Agents
The days of being able to buy a buck deer permit from a hunting license agent in Utah are back. Beginning at 7:30 a.m. on July 17, hunters may purchase buck deer permits for this fall's general season hunts from at least 33 license agents in the state.
Fewer Carcasses Tallied in 2003 Deer Mortality Surveys

Deer Tags Reduced; Commission Sets 2003 Big Game Quotas
The Nevada Board of Wildlife Commissioners set big game hunting tag quotas on Saturday, May 10 in Reno. Deer tags were reduced from 17,316 in 2002 to 14,788 this year. Nevada Division of Wildlife (NDOW) biologists had proposed allocating 15,632 tags.
Deer Hunt Cuts Proposed
Based on recent aerial surveys, deer herds in several hunting units appear to have changed enough that hunts may be reduced this fall. Permit levels in some deer controlled hunts will be cut if the Idaho Fish and Game Commission approves department recommendations in a conference call May 12.
Record Number of Deer Licenses Proposed
For the third consecutive year the North Dakota Game and Fish Department is proposing a record number of deer gun licenses, according to Randy Kreil, game and fish wildlife division chief. The figure being submitted to Governor John Hoeven's office for approval is 123,475 licenses, an increase of 6,550 from 2002.
