The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission has confirmed the sighting of a mountain lion in Brown County on December 1.

Former Game and Parks Commission employee Dick Turpin first observed the mountain lion at a deer kill near the Nature Conservancy's Property in northern Brown county. Turpin was able to take photos and collect video footage of the animal.

This is the ninth confirmed mountain lion sighting in Nebraska since 1991. Mountain lions are currently listed as a game species without a take season, which means they may not be hunted nor trapped.
