More Youth Deer Licenses Proposed
Under a recent Game, Fish and Parks Commission proposal, more youth licenses would be available than last year and individual youth hunters would be able to obtain more than one youth license.
"In a continuing effort to increase antlerless deer harvest in South Dakota, more youth deer licenses were proposed for 2003," said Game Management Specialist Ron Fowler. "Additionally, if this proposal is finalized without changes, license restrictions for the youth deer hunters would then be the same as for hunters in other deer seasons, which is three licenses maximum per person per season." The current limit set for youth deer hunters is one license per hunter per year.
South Dakota’s youth deer licenses are open to residents age 12-15 (age 11 if will turn 12 by Dec. 31). Nonresident youth are eligible for leftover licenses.
