Concerns Rise Over Central Kuskokwim Moose Population
A group charged with developing ideas to solve the problem of low moose numbers in the Central Kuskokwim area is turning to the public for reactions to their preliminary ideas. Despite the attention focused on the McGrath area of Unit 19D, members of the Central Kuskokwim Moose Planning Committee have agreed that the situation further downriver in Units 19A & B is just as bad or worse, and there are more people who depend on moose for subsistence and other uses.
Trophy Drawing Results on the Internet
The results of the drawing for moose, mountain goat and bighorn sheep hunts are online on the Idaho Fish and Game website at this site. Hunters need to enter their hunting license number to see their results.
Moose Draw Application Deadline Approaches
The deadline for moose license applications in Nova Scotia is fast approaching. The 1-900 line will officially close to applicants at midnight on May 31.
June 10 is Moose Lottery Day
On Tuesday, June 10, 2003, 2,585 names will be randomly selected by a computer for the opportunity to hunt Moose in Maine this fall. The annual moose lottery drawing will be held at the Old Town Elks Lodge, located on 290 North Fourth Street extension in Old Town. The drawing will begin promptly at 6:00.

Predation Control Efforts Underway Near McGrath
Efforts by Division of Wildlife Conservation staff, in coordination with local residents, to alleviate predation on moose calves in Game Management Unit 19D near McGrath, are in progress.
Moose Auction Nets $51,542 For Scholarships
Over $50,000 was raised for youth conservation education scholarships in Maine through the 2003 Maine Moose Permit Auction. Five hunters bid a total of $51,542 in an auction for the privilege to hunt moose in Maine during the 2003 season. Four of the winning bids were unveiled Friday, and the fifth was auctioned by the North American Moose Foundation earlier in March.
Moose, Bighorn, and Goat Apps Due April 30th
April is the month for applying to draw for moose, bighorn sheep and mountain goat hunts. Applications for these controlled hunts will be accepted through April 30. Hunters may apply at Fish and Game offices or license vendors and can apply using a credit card by telephone or over the Internet.
Moose Draw Changes
Prospective moose hunters will see some changes in the Nova Scotia moose hunting season this fall. This year, the province will have two one-week seasons instead of a single two-week season. An additional 110 licenses will be issued as well.
Moose Permit Application Deadline Approaching
Those who want to hunt moose in the state of Maine are reminded that the deadline for Moose Permit Applications is Tuesday, April 1. This year 2,585 permits are available in 19 wildlife management districts statewide.
