Moose License Application Process
The application process for the annual moose draw opened May 17. The 2004 moose hunting season is set to run Sept. 23, 24 and 25. There will be 2,779 licenses available this season. Hunters will have until 5 p.m. on Friday, June 11 to apply for the draw in person, or until 10 p.m. June 11 by Internet or telephone application line.
Annual Moose License Lottery
Nova Scotia hunters will have an opportunity to apply for a mooselicense in one of three seasons in 2004. Prospective moosehunters will see an additional, limited season added in mid-December.
Time is Running Out to Enter Moose Lottery

Moose Permit Application Deadline is April 1
Those who want to hunt moose in the state of Maine are reminded that the deadline for Moose Permit Applications is Thursday, April 1. Applications are available at license agents and sporting good stores throughout the state as well as the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Regional Headquarters and Augusta offices.
Trophy Species Applications
April is the month for applying to draw for moose, bighorn sheep, and mountain goat hunts. Applications for these controlled hunts will be accepted through April 30. Hunters may apply at Fish and Game offices or license vendors and can apply using a credit card by telephone or over the Internet.
Increase in Moose Hunting Permits
Vermont’s moose are causing extensive environmental damage by their heavy consumption of plants, including young trees that would become Vermont’s future forest. The most severe damage is occurring in Northeast Kingdom forestlands where there are more than three moose per square mile.
