Moose Hunt Applications
Would-be Vermont moose hunters have until July 3 to send in their permit applications. Applications are available where Vermont hunting and fishing licenses are sold and from the Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department. They also are available on the department's web site.
The moose hunt will be held October 19-22, 2002. A total of 365 permits will be available in the following Wildlife Management Units: B--5, C--15, D1--25, D2--70, E1--70, E2--90, G--10, H1--15, H2--5, I--10, J1-10, J2 - 15, L - 10, M1 - 5, and P - 10. . Of the 365 permits, 280 are for moose of either sex and the remaining 85 permits are for moose without antlers or antlers less than six inches long.
A person may apply once. A hunting license is not required to apply but is required in order to secure the permit.
Anyone who will have difficulty obtaining an application from a license agent or district Fish & Wildlife office, including nonresidents, also may obtain a moose hunting application by writing or calling the Fish & Wildlife Department, 103 South Main Street, Waterbury, VT 05671-0501 -- telephone (802) 241-3700. Many may find it easiest to download the application from the
