Montana Spring Turkey Application Deadline - March 10th

Hunters anxious to prepare for Montana's spring turkey gobbler season in western Montana can obtain an application for the special permit drawing on the Montana Fish, Wildlife & Park's website at fwp.mt.gov . The deadline to apply is March 10.

Spring turkey season begins April 9. Residents must have a 2011 conservation and upland game bird license, and nonresidents will need a conservation license, to purchase a turkey license.

Details on spring turkey hunting in the general hunting areas and special permit areas, and information on how to apply, are available in the 2011 Spring Turkey Hunting Regulations on the FWP website at fwp.mt.gov .

That's one of the few good

That's one of the few good things about out here in California, turkey.

We do not need any type of tag to hunt them.  All we need is an Upland game Stamp, which allows us to take doves, quail, turkeys, and pheasants.

And we're allowed 3 birds on that one stamp in the spring season.

Of course, always looking to make money, California has discussed introducing a tag system, but we'll see.
