Information is being sought on a dead grizzly bear found on the east side of Hungry Horse Reservoir. The grizzly bear was found by two bear hunters late last week and reported to FWP Wardens. Wardens retrieved the grizzly on May 21 and verified that it had been shot.

Officials ask that anyone having information on this case call the Kalispell office of Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (406-752-5501), the Missoula office of the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service (406-329-3000), or 1-800-TIP-MONT. A reward is available to anyone reporting information leading to a conviction.

I wonder if this is a case of

I wonder if this is a case of mistaken identity while someone was huting for balck bear or just a case of killing it because it was there and they figured they could get away with it. I live close to this area when I was a kid for a couple of summers and was fortunate to see a couple of grizzlies myself and they would be very hard to mistake for a blackie unless you had no experience whatsoever. I hope they catch the person or persons who poached this bear but have a feeling it will be very difficult to do so.
