Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks is seeking public comment on the Jiggin' at Georgetown Fundraiser Feb. 27-28 sponsored by the Carroll College Outreach Team, a group of professors and students working to benefit impoverished communities in West Africa. The team is planning the derby to raise funds for charitable projects, including providing textbooks for schools and developing new wells.

Only kokanee salmon will be harvested during the fundraiser. Kokanee salmon are abundant in Georgetown Lake and removing some of them will not harm the fishery. Harvested kokanee salmon will be cleaned, smoked, and packaged by the derby sponsor and donated to Helena Food Share. All rainbow trout will be released immediately.
