Mississippi Seeking Public Comment on Seasons and Bag Limits

Mississippi hunters and wildlife management area users, now is the time to provide your input on statewide hunting seasons and bag limits, as well as on regulations for all of Mississippi's 50 wildlife management areas.

Mississippi Turkey Season Now Open

The 2011 Spring turkey season for all hunters began March 12th and closes May 1st.

Mississippi Deer Gun Season Opens Saturday, Nov. 20th

Mississippi's white-tailed deer hunting season with guns opens November 20 and runs through December 1. Hunting with dogs is allowed during this season. Legal deer include either sex on private land and legal bucks on open public land. Boundary and legal buck definitions for the three Deer Management Zones within the state are as follows:

Mississippi Black Bear Poacher Issued a Citation

Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks conservation officers recently issued a citation for the illegal killing of a black bear in Coahoma County. The male bear weighed 230 pounds and was approximately five years old.

Mississippi 2010-11 White-tailed Deer Season Finalized

The 2010 – 2011 white-tailed deer season structure was finalized Tuesday at a special meeting of the Mississippi Commission on Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks. Public Notice of Intent W15-3434 could not be ratified at the last Commission meeting held on July 22 because the 30-day comment period had not passed since the Public Notice of Intent was filed with the Secretary of State.

Mississippi Alligator App Deadline June 15th
The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, & Parks will began accepting applications for the 2010 Alligator Hunting Season on June 1. There are hunting opportunities on both public waters and private lands.
Mississippi DWFP Supports Deer Season Changes
The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) continues its support of HB 1282 as it moves to a vote in the Mississippi State Senate. HB 1282 passed the Mississippi House of Representatives with an overwhelming majority.
Mississippi Youth Turkey Season Opened March 6th
The 2010 Spring turkey season opened in Mississippi on Saturday, March 6th for youth hunters 15 years of age and younger. This special Youth Season will run through March 12th, and is open on private lands and authorized state and federal public lands. The regular Spring turkey season for all hunters begins March 13th and closes May 2nd.
