Mississippi WMA Turkey Hunting Applications Available January 15
Beginning January 15th the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks will begin accepting applications for turkey hunting on select Wildlife Management Areas.
Applicants must apply online at www.mdwfp.com before February 15th. There will be a charge of $5 for each permit application, and these proceeds contribute to managing WMA lands. Permitted turkey huntswill be available on 17 Wildlife Managements Areas. Applicants for the Sardis Waterfowl WMA, Ward Bayou WMA, Theodore Mars WMA, and Natchez State Park turkey hunts must be 15 years of age or younger. Due toextensive flooding and poor turkey reproduction in the Delta over the past four years, Shipland WMA and Mahannah WMA will be closed to turkey hunting, while Sunflower WMA and Twin Oaks WMA will experience a reduced season.
