Mississippi WMA Deer Applications Available Aug. 1st
On August 1st, the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks will begin taking applications for early season teal and deer hunting on Wildlife Management Areas. Applicants must apply online at www.mdwfp.com before September 1st. There will be a charge of $5 for each permit application, and these proceeds contribute to managing WMA lands. Permitted early season teal hunts will be available at Howard Miller and Muscadine WMAs. Permitted deer hunts will be available at Black Prairie, Charles Ray Nix, Hell Creek, Mahannah, Sardis Waterfowl, Sky Lake, Twin Oaks, Trim Cane, Yockanookany WMAs, and Natchez State Park. Applicants for the Sardis Waterfowl WMA deer hunts must be 15 years of age or younger. To be eligible for deer hunts at Trim Cane WMA, applicants must have a physical condition which makes them fully dependent on a wheelchair for mobility.
