Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks Deer Program reminds hunters that Primitive Weapons Season for deer opens Friday, December 2nd and runs through Thursday, December 15th in all deer zones. Antlerless deer and zone legal bucks are eligible for harvest. Hunters may take both an antlerless deer and a legal buck in the same day.

According to William T. McKinley, Central Region Deer Program Biologist, the pre-rut is beginning over most of the state. “Hunters can expect to see bucks beginning to chase does, which makes for an exciting hunt. Deer movement always seems to be high during the first two weeks of December. We usually have several older bucks taken across the state during the primitive weapons season.”

I wonder if that guy that

I wonder if that guy that uses the Atlatl would be eligible for the "primitive weapon hunt".  I would bet he would.  Anyway, that should be one of the lat seasons there in Mississippi, unless they have a late one running into January as some southern states do.  Hard to believe we are almost done with the 2011 seasons, and heading into 2012 in a short month.
