Maryland Black Bear Apps Due Sept. 1st

Sept. 1st is the final day that the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will accept applications from hunters wishing to participate in this year's black bear hunting permit lottery.

Maryland Black Bear Hunt Lottery is Now Open

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is now accepting applications to participate in this year's lottery for black bear hunting permits. Applications issued will be valid for this year's black bear hunting season, which will take place October 25 through October 30.

"This year's hunt will follow the same successful model we've used for the previous bear hunting seasons," said Pete Jayne, Associate Director for Game Management for DNR.

Maryland Black Bear Lottery Opens Aug. 2nd

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will begin accepting applications to participate in this year's lottery for black bear hunting permits on Monday, August 2. Applications issued will be valid for this year's black bear hunting season, which will take place October 25 through October 30.

Maryland Spring Turkey Harvest Results Show Decline
The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) reports that 2,847 wild turkeys were harvested during the 2010 spring season, a slight 2 percent decline from last year's total of 2,910. Harvest numbers were tallied after the May 24 close of Maryland’s spring turkey hunting season.
