Night Hunters Sentenced After Shooting Decoy
On the night of January 3, 2003, Danny Joe McComic, 25, James V. McComic, 59, and Terry Wayne Brown Jr., 21, all of Boyce were cited by Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Enforcement agents for a variety of night hunting violations in Rapides Parish. The men were apprehended after shooting a deer decoy at night from a truck with a .22-caliber rifle off of Valentine Lake Road.

The Thanksgiving holidays have passed, and the hectic Christmas shopping season has begun. But for Louisiana deer hunters, a more important season began on December 6.
Three Night Hunters Arrested
Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Enforcement Agents arrested three Terrebonne Parish men for allegedly killing a doe deer at night in Lafourche Parish.
Applications Available for White Lake Youth Hunt
White Lake Preservation, Inc., is holding a guided youth waterfowl hunt on November 1 and 2, on the White Lake Preserve near Gueydan. Applications are now being accepted by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.
Hunting and Fishing Day is Sept 27th
Louisiana's 19th Annual National Hunting and Fishing Day will be held on Saturday, September 27. The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries will host the festivities at Waddill Refuge in Baton Rouge. Waddill is located at 4142 N. Flannery Road. Gates will open at 9:00 a.m. and activities will continue throughout the day until 3:00 p.m.
First Bobcat Hunting Season in 25 years
The Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission accepted a declaration of emergency to establish a bobcat hunting season to run concurrent with the 2003-04 deer season.
Hunters Warned of Potentially Contaminated Food Plot Seed
Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is warning hunters to check their food plot seed for potential contamination. Authorities in Florida have traced contaminated joint vetch seed to several retailers in south, central and southeastern Louisiana.
Licenses Expire June 30th
Recreational hunters and anglers should be reminded that their 2002/2003 recreational licenses will expire on June 30. The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is encouraging everyone to renew their licenses before it is too late. 2003/2004 licenses will be available beginning June 1.
Agents Nab Turkey Baiter
Enforcement Agents from the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries apprehended a Jena man on April 12, for allegedly hunting turkeys illegally on Highland Hunting Club in Catahoula Parish.
Turkey Hunters Decoyed
On March 24 and 28 enforcement agents from the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries cited six men for alleged illegal hunting activities in the Sherburne Wildlife Management Area in Pointe Coupee Parish. After receiving several complaints of road hunting, agents set up a turkey decoy on the side of Hwy. 975 within the wildlife management area.
