Man Drowns Deer in Twelve-Mile Bayou
Meadows admitted to killing the deer by holding its head under the surface of the water, causing it to drown. Agents cited Meadows, seized the meat and placed the boat under a seizure order, pending disposition of the case.

2004 NTWF Funds LDWF Land Purchase
National Wild Turkey Federation presented the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries with a check for $28,000 for land acquisitions. The funds cover the entire purchase price of 20 acres of true inholdings, land surrounded by property already owned by the department, within Sicily Island Hills Wildlife Management Area.
2003-04 Deer Harvest Down
As always, Mother Nature played an important role in the 2003-04 deer season in Louisiana. With warm temperatures prevailing September through January, hunters harvested less this season than last. An estimated 215,000 deer were harvested in comparison to the 241,100 during the 2002-03 season.
