Recreational hunters and anglers should be reminded that their 2002/2003 recreational licenses will expire on June 30. The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is encouraging everyone to renew their licenses before it is too late. 2003/2004 licenses will be available beginning June 1. Annual licenses purchased from LDWF are valid from July 1 to June 30 of the following year.

LDWF provides several different ways to purchase or renew licenses. Sportsmen may log on to the LDWF website at and purchase a license by using a Visa or MasterCard credit card. One may also call 1-888-765-2602 and purchase the license over the phone. Again, Visa and MasterCard are the accepted forms of payment. Local license vendors also offer recreational hunting and fishing licenses. Accepted forms of payment may vary according to the vendor.

LDWF License Director Janis Landry advises that it is better to renew than take the chance. "Allowing licenses to lapse is not a good idea. The current penalties for hunting or fishing without a valid license is a minimum fine of $50."
