Michigan Department of Natural Resources officials today reminded deer hunters of the late firearm antlerless season, Dec. 23 through Jan. 1, 2003. This season is for those hunting on private land in the Lower Peninsula. All of the Upper Peninsula is closed to the late firearm antlerless season.

All firearm hunters must wear Hunter Orange and be at least 14-years-old. Hunters must have an unused Private Land Antlerless License in their name, for the Deer Management Unit they are hunting. Deer Management Assistance Permits are valid in the open DMUs if the hunter has purchased a regular firearm, archery, combination, or antlerless license. Deer may be taken with a bow and arrow or firearm.
