As part of its promotion of the partial privatization or diversion of Arizona's wildlife resources, one constituent group recently circulated an “open letter” regarding problems, or challenges, facing sportsmen.

New Mexico Hunters: Don't Miss March 28 Online License Application Deadline

Hunters who need help applying online for New Mexico big-game hunting licenses before the March 28 application deadline can get it either on the telephone or by attending one of several computer-assisted sessions at various communities this weekend.

This year, the Department of Game and Fish eliminated paper application forms in favor of a paperless online system designed to streamline the application and licensing process and make drawing results and refunds available much sooner.

General Spring Javelina Season Starts Feb. 24; Leftover Tags Still Available

Want to go big game hunting this spring but didn’t get drawn? The Arizona Game and Fish Department still has some leftover javelina tags that can be purchased at department offices.

Javelina hunts offer a springtime hunting experience unique to the desert Southwest. Stalking a herd of javelina can be challenging due to their keen sense of smell and hearing. If you are fortunate to harvest an animal, javelina meat can be barbequed, pit roasted, or processed into a variety of sausages.

The general javelina season begins Feb. 24 and runs through March 1.

Get ready to put some spring into your step – the 2012 spring draw for turkey, javelina, buffalo and bear has been completed and results are now available online.

New Mexico Elk, Deer, Javelina Tags on Sale in August

Hunters who were unsuccessful in this year's annual drawing for big-game licenses will have another shot in August when the Department of Game and Fish puts almost 3,500 deer, elk and javelina licenses up for sale on the agency website.

Let the planning begin. The drawing results for Arizona's 2011 fall big game hunting permits are now available at the Arizona Game and Fish Department's website. Draw results are also available by telephone at (602) 942-3000 by selecting option two.

The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish has just published the new Big Game and Trapper Rules and Information Booklet for 2011-2012.
