Illinois Union County Special Hunt
A special archery deer hunt is scheduled for Nov. 3-5 on the refuge portion of Union County State Fish and Wildlife Area. A total of 75 permits will be issued for this three-day hunt. The application period is Sept. 15-30, with the permit drawing planned for Oct. 3. The drawing is open to residents and non-residents. Duplicate applications, incomplete applications (missing a zip code, area code or the phone number), and applications received after Sept. 30 will be rejected. To apply for this special hunt at the Union County Refuge, hunters should type or clearly print name, address (including ZIP code), date of birth, and daytime phone number (including area code), on an 8 ½ x 11 sheet of paper. For those applying as a group, up to four individuals may apply together on one sheet of paper. Mail the application to IDNR-Region V Office, Attn: Archery Deer Hunt-Union County Refuge, 11731 State Highway 37, Benton, IL 62812. Information regarding check-in procedures and special site regulations will be distributed to successful applicants by mail no later than Oct. 15.
