Illinois Adds New Way to Support Hunting Programs
Anglers, hunters and other outdoors enthusiasts now have a new, easy way to support fishing and hunting programs thanks to an Illinois Conservation Foundation (ICF) donation check-off option through DNR Direct, the Illinois Department of Natural Resources' (IDNR) automated license, permit and registration system.
Those using DNR Direct to buy Illinois hunting, fishing or sportsmen's combination licenses, permits, and stamps will be offered the option of including a voluntary donation of $3 or more to the ICF to support fishing and hunting programs and projects throughout the state.
"The ICF supports everything from youth waterfowl hunts to fishing and hunting programs for people with disabilities to projects to enhance wildlife and aquatic habitat," said IDNR Acting Director Sam Flood. "This new option to contribute a minimum donation of $3 to the ICF is a simple, easy way for those of us who enjoy outdoor recreation to help support those programs."
The new check-off contribution option will be available at the more than 800 DNR Direct license and permit vendor locations throughout Illinois – and as a pop-up option on DNR Direct online through the IDNR web site www.dnr.state.il.us. Those using DNR Direct through the toll-free telephone system at 1-888-6PERMIT (1-888-673-7648) can also designate a minimum $3 donation to the ICF as part of their transactions.
DNR Direct is the state of the art, convenient and efficient way of providing required fishing and hunting licenses and other IDNR permits and registrations that began operation last March. DNR Direct online and the DNR Direct toll-free telephone system operate 24 hours a day. Online purchases allow anglers and hunters to print out their licenses on their personal computer.
The Illinois Conservation Foundation was established in 1995 to help preserve and enhance the state's natural resources by supporting and fostering ecological, educational and recreational programs. The ICF is an IRS 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit corporation and contributions are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
