GFP Now Taking Online Applications for Returned Elk Tags
The Game, Fish and Parks licensing office is now accepting applications for a third elk drawing. This drawing is for Black Hills archery elk, prairie rifle elk and Black Hills rifle elk licenses that were returned after the first two drawings.
"Anyone applying for one of these tags must apply online via the GFP website," said Scott Simpson, GFP licensing supervisor. "No paper applications will be accepted. A $5 nonrefundable application fee is required to apply. Applications for this drawing will be accepted up to midnight, Monday, Aug. 2 (Central Daylight Time)." Simpson added that preference points do not apply in this drawing. No more than two applicants may submit an application together.
The third drawing is open to anyone who does not already have a tag for any of the 2004 elk seasons. Applicants may submit a separate application for each season. Individuals that have had a tag in prior years may also apply. Applicants that are successful in the third drawing will not lose their eligibility or preference for future seasons.
For a complete list of units with leftover tags visit the GFP website at www.sdgfp.info or call the GFP information office at (605) 773-3485.
