The Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife Resources Division (WRD) will hold three public hearings to receive input on proposed changes to the hunting regulations for the 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 seasons. The public hearings are scheduled for Tuesday, April 17 in Newnan, Wednesday, April 18 in Cordele and Thursday, April 19 in Jasper.

The purpose of the proposed regulation changes is to manage Georgia's game birds and game animals according to sound wildlife management principles, and to meet public objectives for use of these renewable natural resources. Those interested are encouraged to bring the hearings to the attention of others who may also wish to participate.

Some of the proposed changes WRD will address include the need to increase either sex days for white-tailed deer population management purposes, expand Georgia counties open to bear hunting, expand alligator season and regulate hunting on wildlife management areas.
