Furbearer Registration Set for December 14
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources reminds trappers that furbearer registrations will be held Tuesday, December 14 from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the DNR offices in Aitkin, Big Falls, Brainerd, Cloquet, Cook, Deer River, Duluth, Effie, Eveleth, Finland, Grand Marais, Grand Rapids, Hibbing, Hinckley, International Falls, Northome, Orr, Tower, and Two Harbors. Registration is mandatory for fisher, pine marten, otter and bobcat taken during their respective seasons.
Trappers must submit harvest information including: the species, date trapped, sex, trapping location (township, range, section), and county. Recording this information in advance will speed up the process and make the wait in line shorter.
Harvest information is important to wildlife managers for tracking population changes and range expansion. Seasons, limits and area closures are in place for all of these species. Seasons for these species have been established in areas of the state with healthy populations. These regulations are intended to provide opportunities for limited harvest of these species, continue to allow for range expansion, and still maintain healthy populations for all Minnesota residents to enjoy.
