Hunter Education Certificates Available on Web
Hunters who need proof they've passed the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission's (FWC's) Hunter Education Course now can print out duplicate certificates from the FWC's Web site. Anyone born on or after June 1, 1975 needs proof he has passed an approved hunter education course before he can purchase a hunting license in Florida and numerous other states. In the past, hunters who lost their certificates had to call the Hunter Education Office to arrange for the agency to mail them a replacement.
Military Bases Reopen to Hunters
Four of Florida's military bases that closed their gates to hunters in the wake of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks have reopened at least part of their facilities to hunters. Eglin Air Force Base, near Ft. Walton Beach, is again selling permits to hunt on most of its land. Interested hunters should contact Eglin's Jackson Guard office at (850) 882-4164 for more information.
