Firearm Antelope Hunting Season Proposed

Resident and nonresident firearms antelope licenses have been proposed for South Dakota?s 2001 antelope season.

The season would be open Oct. 6-14, with 4,275 resident licenses available. An additional 8 percent would be made available to nonresidents.

The season would be opened in Stanley (158A) and Sully (159A) counties. Other changes from last year would include:

  • Combine Unit 138A (Hyde County south of U.S. Highway 14) with Unit 136A (Hughes County) and expand the unit to include Hyde County north of U.S. Highway 14.
  • Expand Unit 160A (Tripp County north of S.D. Highway 44) to include all of Tripp County.
  • Expand Unit 163A (Walworth County south of U.S. Highway 12 and west of U.S. Highway 83, and Potter County west o U.S. Highway 83) eastward to S.D. Highway 47 north of Lebanon and 320th Ave. south of Lebanon.
