Man Found Guilty of Illegal Oryx Hunting
A Santa Fe man will pay $2,102 and may be permanently banned from entering White Sands Missile Range as a result of convictions for illegal oryx hunting at the range.

Seven hunters who turned in their completed hunter harvest surveys on time drew elk and oryx license authorizations at the State Game Commission meeting June 18.
Oryx Hunting App Deadline Approaching
The deadline to apply for New Mexico's oryx hunting licenses and population reduction/depredation hunts for deer, elk, antelope, javelina and oryx is Feb. 1, 2003. The deadline also applies to bear entry permits for some state-owned wildlife management areas and public-land spring turkey hunts on the Valle Vidal and Game Management Unit 2. Hunters may apply for these hunts on Form 2003, available at about 230 license vendors statewide, Game and Fish offices and at www.gmfsh.state.nm.us. Draw permits for bear hunts are available in the Sargent, Humphries, E.S. Barker and Colin Neblett wildlife management areas. Dogs may not be used for these hunts.
Gator Trapper Funding Sought
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) agreed today to try to find funding to help the state's nuisance alligator trappers stay in business. Nuisance trappers remove 7,000 nuisance gators in a typical year in the interest of human safety.
FWC Hopes To Help Alligator Trappers
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) agreed Wednesday to try to find a way to help the state's financially strapped nuisance alligator trappers. Commissioners heard from trappers during the first day of their Nov. 20-22 meeting at Hawk's Cay Resort on Duck Key.
Wild Alligator Season Set
The statewide wild alligator season has been set by the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission. The commission voted unanimously to accept a resolution and declaration of emergency that will officially set the season from Wednesday, August 28 through September 30. The resolution was presented by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries at the commission's July 2 meeting.
Gator Hunting Anyone?
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) will begin accepting applications May 1 from hunters who want to test their prowess in pursuit of alligators. Applications will be available at all FWC regional offices, and Internet users can download applications from the agency’s Alligator Management Program Web site at wld.fwc.state.fl.us/gators/public.htm.
Deer Harvest Slightly Declines
Unfavorable hunting conditions and weather led to a one percent decline in the Maryland total deer hunting season harvest for 2001-2002. Maryland's 2001-2002 total deer hunting season harvest totaled 83,787. A total of 82,206 white-tailed deer and 1,581 sika deer were bagged. Fog, wind, rain, and unseasonably warm temperatures during the two-week firearm season contributed to a 13 percent decline in harvest numbers. Firearm deer hunters took 42,321 deer, down from 48,248 in the previous year.
Big Time Texas Hunts Winners Announced
Thirty-six winners have been drawn for premium hunt packages in this year's Big Time Texas Hunts (BTTH). As of the Nov. 4 deadline, Texas Parks and Wildlife received some 82,486 entries for a total of $824,860 in sales. Proceeds from BTTH are earmarked to provide additional public hunting opportunities and wildlife conservation activities in Texas. The web site lists winners by the BTTH drawing type
