DNR Shooting Range Development Grants Available
The Maryland Natural Resources Police Hunter Education Program announced today that federal grant money will be soon be made available to nonprofit groups and organizations for the improvement of shooting range facilities around the State. The grants are designed to enhance the Maryland Hunter Education Program by providing additional access to students for hunter education training and live firing, and to increase public access to recreational shooting facilities.
Each range is eligible for up to $3,000 for facility improvements directly related to shooting activities, such as the purchase of materials to repair, improve or expand shooting positions, benches, baffles, etc. Any nonprofit group or organization that operates a shooting range and is willing to offer the Maryland Hunter Education Course is eligible.
Grants will be dispersed according to criteria developed to enhance the Hunter Education Program and increase public access to ranges, and checks will be dispersed on a reimbursement basis.
