The 2005-06 Deer Permit Application Form will be available in the 2005 Fish and Wildlife Digest Hunting Issue which is published mid-August, but is also available online in PDF format for non-residents and others wishing to submit it. This application is good for all DMZs open for deer hunting and can be used for obtaining permits through the mail instead of at participating license agents. It is required for entering the lottery for zones 37, 38, 56-59, 61, 64, 66 & 67.

Bow, Shotgun and Muzzleloader Permits for most (non-lottery) zones will be available for sale at participating license agents beginning Saturday, September 10. These zones include: 1-19, 21-31, 34-36, 41-43, 45-51, 55, 63 and 65.

Hunters should note that Deer Management Zone (DMZ) boundaries have changed for zones 1, 3, 5, 6 and 36. Hunters interested in those zones should verify location of zone boundaries - once a permit is issued there are no refunds or exchanges.

Below is information about the permit process and DMZ boundary changes, as well as links to the application form, zone boundary descriptions and DMZ maps.

* The Deer Management Zone boundaries for zones 1, 3, 5, 6 and 36 have been changed. The Bear Swamp Wildlife Management Area and nearby lands are removed from Zone 5 and added to Zone 1.

* The developing, eastern portion of Zone 6 and southeastern portion of Zone 3 are added to Zone 36.

* Zone 52 (western portion of Fort Dix Military Reservation) will be re-combined with Zone 37 (eastern portion of Fort Dix). Fort Dix was divided into two zones in 1986.

Please see the Deer Management Zone Descriptions for specific boundary information.

This permit application MUST be used for lottery zones: 37, 38, 56-59, 61, 64, 66 & 67.

This application is also good for all other DMZs open for deer hunting. Second and third choices are not necessary if applying for zones that can be purchased at license agents: 1-19, 21-31, 34-36, 41-43, 45-51, 55, 63 & 65.

Hunters are limited to purchasing one permit per zone and season. For example, if you hunt in DMZ 19 you may purchase one bow permit, one shotgun permit and one muzzleloader permit for DMZ 19. You cannot purchase two zone 19 bow permits, or two shotgun permits for zone 19. Hunters may purchase permits for as many zones as they wish.

Please submit only one application per person. The application period closes September 10.

Payment should be in the form of a check or money order made out to NJ Div. Of Fish & Wildlife. Additional permits can be purchased at participating license agents. Call to check availability.
