Do you love wildlife and have some time to volunteer? The Colorado Division of Wildlife (DOW) will host an orientation and training for anyone interested in helping with the Grand Valley Wildlife Rescue Team.

Interviews will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 17 at 6:00 p.m. at the DOW Northwest Regional Service Center, 711 Independent Avenue, Grand Junction. Interested volunteers will be briefed on rescue team requirements and screened for compatibility. Volunteers selected for the team will be required to attend a training session on Saturday, Feb. 27.

The Wildlife Rescue Team assists the DOW by responding to calls regarding orphaned and injured wildlife. The animals are transported to wildlife rehabilitators, veterinarians, or to the local DOW office. Capture and transport equipment and training are provided, but volunteers must have a dependable vehicle.

Volunteers can also learn about habitat enhancement projects, animal trap-and-transplant operations and other upcoming wildlife activities where help is needed.
