Colorado DOW to Hold Black Bear Mtg in Craig
The Colorado Division of Wildlife is seeking public input to help guide management of black bear populations in the Craig, Steamboat Springs and Walden areas. The meeting will be held Tuesday, Aug. 31 and will focus specifically on the areas north of Craig, north of Steamboat Springs and in all of North Park.
The Division is gathering input from landowners, livestock operators, hunters, homeowners, and recreationists to assist in formulating long-term black bear management plans similar to the plans currently being used for management of other big game species such as deer and elk.
The public meeting will be held Tuesday, Aug. 31 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Shadow Mountain Complex (1055 County Road 7) in Craig. The public is invited to provide input on management of bears within Division of Wildlife Game Management Units 4, 5, 6, 14, 16, 17, 161, 171, 214, and 441.
