Carlsbad Game Commission Meeting on December 6th

The 2003-2005 Big Game Rule recommendations will be open for consideration of amendment at the State Game Commission meeting in Carlsbad Dec. 6. The meeting is scheduled 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Best Western Motel Stevens Inn, 1829 S. Canal. Also included in the 23 items on the agenda are:

The Hunting and Fishing License Application Rule will be open for consideration of amendment, including special hunt draw dates, license fee requirements, deer entry license/permit restrictions and license refund criteria;

Presentations on the wildlife importation and Class A Parks and Lakes rules in light of chronic wasting disease and other diseases;

An overview of the lesser prairie-chicken's status and recovery efforts;

A proposal to exchange oryx in New Mexico for desert bighorn sheep from Mexico;

Funding approval requests for the design and construction of the Wildlife Conservation and Education Center, sediment removal from McGaffey Reservoir and replacement of a pipeline at Red River Hatchery;

Share With Wildlife projects and State Wildlife Grant proposals will be presented for funding consideration.

A detailed agenda is available on the Department's web site at www.gmfsh.state.nm.us/. A closed executive session is scheduled for the end of the meeting on Friday.
