California Senate Passes Anti-Hunting Bill

California Senate Bill 1221, a bill that will ban the use of hounds to hunt black bears and bobcats, passed the state’s Senate today. The passage of SB 1221 by the senate casts a dark cloud over the future of all hunting and wildlife management in California. Senate Bill 1221 passed with a vote of 22 to 15 in favor.

California Commission Adopts Salmon Season Regulation Packages

The Fish and Game Commission adopted ocean and inland salmon fishingregulations for 2012 at its April meetings. Inland salmon season regulations were adopted for the Central Valley, and Klamath and Trinity rivers. Longer seasons and increased fishing opportunities are the hallmarks of what is expected to be a banner season for ocean and river anglers.

California DFG Successfully Returns Yearling Bears Back to Mother Nature

The Department of Fish and Game (DFG) has completed its 2012 yearling bear release program by returning six orphaned cubs to the wild where they were born. The cubs were found in various locations around the state in the summer months of 2011 and were rehabilitated at a licensed care facility in Lake Tahoe prior to being judged ready to return to the wild.

California DFG Holds Lottery for Wild Pig Hunt at San Antonio Valley Ranch

The Department of Fish and Game (DFG) has opened a lottery for a no-fee wild pig hunt at San Antonio Valley Ranch. The application period closes April 27, and the hunt will be held on May 19-20.

California DFG Holds Wild Pig Hunts in Yolo County

The Department of Fish and Game (DFG) will hold eight limited wild pig hunts at Bobcat Ranch in Yolo County from March13 – May 2, 2012.

Offered through DFG’s Shared Habitat Alliance for Recreational Enhancement (SHARE) Program, a total of 48 hunters will be selected through a random drawing for an access permit to the private Bobcat Ranch property.

Each of the eight hunts will be two days and offered in the following methods:
