Bobcat Permits Drawn
The Pennsylvania Game Commission, with assistance from several interested observers, publicly drew the names of 545 individuals who will be awarded one bobcat permit each for the upcoming 2002-2003 hunting and trapping season. The drawing was held in the agency's Harrisburg headquarters today.
After a thorough review of the 3,114 applications received for the drawing, the Game Commission disqualified 123 individuals for failing to follow instructions, including mailing in multiple applications or bounced checks. Of the 2,991 eligible applicants in the drawing, an additional 50 applications were drawn as alternates in case any of the first 545 individuals are declared ineligible during an application review by the Bureau of Law Enforcement.
Those selected in the random drawing will receive in early October one permit for no additional charge to either hunt or trap one bobcat. The hunting season will run from Oct. 19-Feb. 22. The trapping season will run from Oct. 20-Feb. 22.
The hunting and trapping of bobcats is restricted to Furbearer Management Zones 2 and 3, which are comprised of all or portions of the following counties: Forest; McKean; Elk; Potter; Cameron; Clearfield; Centre; Clinton; Tioga; Lycoming; Sullivan; Columbia; Bradford; Susquehanna; Wyoming; Luzerne; Lackawanna; Monroe; Pike; and Wayne.
