New Hampshire 2010 Deer and Bear Season Results Available

Based on preliminary registration tallies at the close of the season, N.H. hunters harvested 9,765 deer in 2010. The estimated statewide harvest was down 6% from the 2009 total of 10,384 deer.  The lower statewide totals were not unexpected, reflecting an intended reduction in antlerless harvest to help deer numbers recover from two severe winters starting in 2007-08, according to Kent Gustafson, Deer Project Leader for the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department.

Idaho Spring Turkey and Bear Applications Accepted Jan. 15th - Feb. 15th

The application period for spring turkey and black bear controlled hunts starts January 15, and runs through February 15.

Spring turkey and spring black bear seasons start April 15 - some controlled hunts open later. Leftover tags for spring turkey and bear controlled hunts go on sale April 1.

Colorado DOW Considers Bear Den Regulations

The Wildlife Commission will consider a new regulation to prohibit the take of bears in their dens and a petition to rescind a ban on dog walking at two northeast-region state wildlife areas during its January meeting.

Louisiana DWF Seeking Clues on Several Black Bear Poachings

Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) Enforcement Division agents are seeking leads for several illegal black bear killings that have taken place recently.

The killings have taken place from coastal bear habitat in St. Mary and Vermillion Parishes to Tensas Parish. The bears have either been shot or trapped in hog snares by poachers.

Washington Hunters Can Win 2011 Hunting Permits by Filing 2010 Hunting Reports

Hunters have a chance to win one of nine 2011 special hunting permits if they report this year's hunting activities for black bear, deer, elk, or turkey to the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) by Jan. 10.

Those who meet the deadline will be included in a drawing for five deer permits and four elk permits in various areas of the state. Those permits will be valid from Sept. 1 through Dec. 31, 2011.

To qualify for the drawing, hunters must submit a report for each black bear, deer, elk, or turkey tag they purchased in 2010.

Tennessee's Black Bear Season Now Open

The longest portion of Tennessee's 2010 bear hunting season has begun. The season runs from Dec. 2-15.

The counties allowed for the statewide bear season include Blount, Carter, Cocke, Greene, Jefferson (east of Hwy. 411), Johnson, Monroe, Polk (east of Hwy. 411 and north of Hwy. 64), Sevier, Sullivan, Unicoi, and Washington. All bear reserves are closed to bear hunting.

New Jersey Black Bear Hunting Opens Dec. 6th

The opening day of New Jersey's Black Bear Hunting Season is fast approaching and hunters are preparing for what should be an excellent season. This year the season will run from December 6 through December 11, concurrent with the Six-Day Firearm Deer Season. Anyone wishing to participate in the black bear hunting season MUST have completed a bear hunting training seminar and possess a Black Bear Hunting Area Permit.

Vermont Deer Poaching Investigation Leads to Multiple Criminal Charges

Two Barnet residents have received multiple criminal charges resulting from a report to Vermont State Game Wardens involving hunting on November 6, opening day of youth deer hunting weekend, without landowner permission.
