Big Game Raffle and Auction Tags Set
The Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission today approved 2006 auction and raffle tag allocations for bighorn sheep, Rocky Mountain goats, pronghorn antelope, and statewide deer and elk hunting.
Auction and raffle of bighorn sheep, Rocky Mountain goat and pronghorn antelope tags supports management and research for each of the species respectively. Auction and raffle revenues from deer and elk tags funds ODFW Access and Habitat programs to fund habitat improvement projects and provide public hunting access on private lands. Both programs offer hunters a unique hunting opportunity, with an expanded hunting area and expanded season dates.
The 2005 Access and Habitat deer and elk auction raised $218,000, up $43,000 from last year. The Rocky Mountain goat raffle raised $8,400. The pronghorn antelope auction and raffle raised nearly $10,500. The bighorn sheep auction and raffle raised $187,000.
The Commission approved 2006 tag allocations identical to 2005 allocations. Hunters will vie for 25 auction and raffle tags.
