Archery Season Offers Ample Time to Head to the Woods
Opening day of archery deer season is October 1 and it is followed by over three full months of hunting opportunity. The season runs from Oct. 1 to Jan. 15, allowing more than 100 days of hunting. The first of Oklahoma's big game seasons, the archery deer season, attracted more than 88,000 Oklahoma hunters last year.
Deer Archery Hunting Season Opens September 15
The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) announced today that archery hunting for deer opens Sept. 15 and continues through Jan. 31. Several changes have been made regarding deer hunting in Maryland for the upcoming season.
Bow Season Big Buck Contest
The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources, the West Virginia Izaak Walton League and the West Virginia Bowhunters Association are again sponsoring the Big Buck Contest for deer taken between October 16 and December 31, 2004.

Bowhunters are reminded they cannot have a firearm in their possession while hunting in a special archery season or in an archery-only area. Bowhunters are also reminded they are required to have an archery permit to hunt in a special archery season.

By following a few, simple rules, Utah's archery hunters can have a safe experience in the state's backcountry this season. The state's general archery buck deer hunt begins Aug. 21, and the state's general archery elk hunt kicks off Aug. 26.
Archery Deer Application Deadline
South Dakota’s archery deer season opens Saturday, Sept. 25, and if archers want to have their archery deer license by that date, state Game, Fish and Parks officials say archers need to submit their application no later than Friday, Aug. 27.
Wildlife Commission Schedules Free Bowhunting Course
The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission will hold a free bowhunting safety and education course at the Eastern 4-H Center in Columbia on Aug. 28 at 9:30 a.m. The course, which is part of the International Bowhunter Education Program, certifies archers to bowhunt where archery certification is required in the United States and Canada.
