Archery Antelope Season Finalized
Limited-draw units have been eliminated from South Dakota’s archery antelope season, but applications are still required to receive a license.
"Limited-draw units eliminated from the state’s archery antelope season include the units in Brule/Buffalo counties and portions of Lawrence, Pennington and Custer counties," said Regional Wildlife Manager John Wrede. "Brule and Buffalo counties are now included in the single, unlimited-license unit."
South Dakota’s 2005 archery antelope season will be open Aug. 20 through Oct. 31, except when and where the prairie firearms antelope season is open. Open areas include all areas where the prairie firearms antelope season is open, including Brule and Buffalo counties.
Archery licenses available will be resident and nonresident "any antelope" licenses and are unlimited in number. A person may have one archery antelope license.
"There is no application deadline for archery antelope licenses, however, one must still submit an application, either by paper or by computer," said GFP License Supervisor Scott Simpson. "Applications will be available in late June and should be submitted on or before Aug. 5 in order for the archer to receive their license for the Aug. 20 opener."
