Antelope, Deer, and Elk Seasons Set March 14th
The Nebraska Game and Parks Commissioners will set dates and regulations for the 2003 antelope, deer and elk hunting seasons, amend fish and wildlife regulations, and select the winner of the 2004 Habitat Stamp Art Contest at a March 14 meeting in Lincoln.
Three public hearings have been scheduled for the meeting. The first, to amend wildlife regulations pertaining to special hunting provisions on the DeSoto National Wildlife Refuge, will begin at 8:15 a.m.; a public hearing to adopt regulations for the 2003 antelope, deer and elk seasons is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m.; and an 8:45 a.m. public hearing will be held to amend boating regulations.
The Commissioners will also consider a staff recommendation to enter into a third party cooperative agreement with the Nemaha Natural Resources District to assist in the purchase and construction of facilities at Iron Horse Trail Wildlife Management Area and lake near DuBois, in addition to hearing updates on chronic wasting disease and the urban fishing program.
The 8 a.m. meeting will be held in the third floor conference room at Game and Parks Commission Headquarters, 2200 No. 33rd Street, in Lincoln.
