South Carolina DNR Offers Alligator Hunting Seminar August 27th

In partnership with Clemson Extension Service, the S.C. Department of Natural Resources will conduct its third alligator hunting seminar beginning at noon Saturday, Aug. 27 at the Harbison Theatre at Midlands Technical College, Harbison Campus, at 7300 College St. in Irmo.

South Carolina Alligator Hunting Seminar - Aug. 13th

In cooperation with Santee Cooper, the S.C. Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will conduct its first alligator hunting seminar on Saturday, Aug. 13th beginning at 10 a.m. in the Auditorium at Santee Cooper’s Headquarters in Moncks Corner.

Florida Commission Meets, Extends Alligator Daylight Hunting Hours

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) wrapped up its two-day meeting Thursday in St. Augustine, in which it accepted staff recommendations on state-threatened species; discussed marine fisheries issues of concern to anglers, commercial fishermen and specimen collectors; approved hunting issues for deer and alligators; and dealt with other wildlife-related issues.

Louisiana Alligator Lottery Hunts Available

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF), in an effort to increase alligator harvest opportunities, will conduct alligator lottery hunts on four Coastal & Nongame Resources (CNR) Division Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs), 13 Wildlife Division WMAs and 22 public lakes during the 2011 alligator harvest season.

The CNR Division WMAs include: Atchafalaya Delta WMA, St. Mary Parish; Pass A Loutre WMA, Plaquemines Parish; Pointe Aux Chenes WMA, Terrebonne and Lafourche parishes; and Salvador/Timken WMAs, St. Charles Parish.

Alabama Alligator Hunt Registration is Open

The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources has opened registration for Alabama’s sixth regulated alligator hunting season, which takes place in August. Prospective hunters can register now for one of the 295 tags. The hunts will be held on August 12-15 and August 19- 22 in the Mobile Tensaw Delta and west central Alabama, and on August 12-28, for the southeast Alabama area. Online registration for the random tag drawing will end at 8 a.m. on July 11.

South Carolina Alligator Apps Available

The S.C. Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is currently accepting online applications for the 2011 Public Alligator Hunting season and the newly created special Wildlife Management Area (WMA) Alligator Hunt.

Florida Alligator Permit Apps Now Available

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) will begin accepting applications on May 4 for a chance to obtain highly coveted permits to participate in the statewide alligator harvest.

Applications submitted in Phase I will be entered in a random drawing to assign permits. Applications will be accepted from 10 a.m. (EDT) May 4 through 11:59 p.m. (EDT) May 17. More than 6,000 alligator harvest permits will be available.

Louisiana Considers Alligator Regulation Changes

The Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission (LWFC) adopted a notice of intent April 7 for regulation changes in the Alligator Management Program. The changes, proposed by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF), provide options relative to alligator skin processing and would allow non-residents owning wetland habitat in Louisiana to obtain harvest tags.

Florida Seeking Comments on Daylight Hours for Alligator Hunting

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) wants to know what Floridians think about providing more daylight-hunting hours to alligator hunters. The public can comment via an online survey.

New Hampshire Holding Public Meeting About Furbearer Rules

A public hearing about proposed rules affecting the importation and possession of alligators, crocodiles and bison, as well as clarifying the rules on furbearer hunting, is set for Thursday, December 16, 2010, at 3:00 p.m. at the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department, 11 Hazen Drive, Concord, N.H.
