The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (ADCNR) announced that Alabama's Third Annual Youth Deer Hunting Days will be held Nov. 11-12, 2006. During these two days, deer hunters statewide have a special opportunity to be mentors by introducing a young person to hunting.

State Archery Championship to be Held April 18
The Third Annual Archery in the Schools Program State Championship will take place on April 18, 2006, at the Birmingham Jefferson Civic Center from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Approximately 1,000 students from across Alabama are expected to participate in three divisions: Elementary (grades K-6), Middle (grades 7-8), and High School (grades 9-12).
Men Arrested for Importing Deer
Conservation Officers in Lauderdale County arrested Gary R. Faires, 56, and Gary S. Daugherty, 35, on February 15, 2006, for illegally importing deer into Alabama. Faires was also charged with the illegal possession of protected wildlife.
Conservation Advisory Board Meeting
The Alabama Conservation Advisory Board will meet Saturday, February 18, at Shelton State Community College in Tuscaloosa. This is the first meeting of the Advisory Board during 2006. Registration for those wishing to address the board will be from 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. The meeting will begin promptly at 9 a.m.
Conservation Department Asks Deer Hunters to Report Harvests
The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is asking deer hunters in Barbour County to participate in a new online check-in system for gathering deer harvest data this season. Hunters can now complete a web-based report for each deer harvested during the 2005-06 season.
