2003 Firearms Antelope Season Set
Because aerial surveys completed during May and June indicated an approximate 24 percent increase in South Dakota’s antelope populations, an additional 720 licenses with 1,220 tags will be available for the 2003 firearms antelope season.
"The additional licenses are issued in an effort to slow or stabilize herd growth in some management units," said Regional Game Manager John Wrede of Rapid City. "The additional licenses and tags offered represent an increase of almost 15 percent above the 4,835 resident licenses originally proposed by the Game, Fish and Parks Commission."
A total of 5,555 resident licenses are available for this year’s season. An additional 8 percent, or 444 total licenses, are available to non-residents.
The season will be open Oct. 4-12. Shooting hours are one-half hour before sunrise to one-half hour after sunset.
Paper applications are due on or before Friday, Aug. 15. Online applicants have up to midnight, Monday, Aug. 18. To apply online, go to www.state.sd.us/gfp/BigGameApps/.
